Residency Art Hub, in partnership with TCM, proudly announced that local emerging artist Seun Ademefun had been selected for the prestigious one-year free studio residency. This opportunity, designed to nurture and elevate promising talents, provided Ademefun with a dedicated creative space, professional mentoring, and the chance to showcase their work through a culminating exhibition.
Ademefun, a dynamic visual artist, was renowned for their deep exploration of the human form and emotions. Growing up in Lagos and profoundly influenced by their late grandfather’s rich art collection, Ademefun had been immersed in the world of drawing and painting from an early age. Their artistic practice uniquely combined acrylic and oil on both canvas and wood, delving into themes of identity, cognition, and emotional vulnerability.
Ademefun’s recent body of work centered around migrant identities, using expressive and multimedia approaches to initiate meaningful conversations and forge connections. This innovative series garnered attention for its raw and poignant portrayal of personal and collective narratives.
The residency also featured a structured mentoring program with TCM, aimed at equipping Ademefun with essential skills and guidance to thrive in the contemporary art landscape. The final exhibition served as an impactful showcase of the artist’s growth and creative journey throughout the residency period.
Residency Art Hub and TCM took pride in supporting emerging voices like Seun Ademefun, fostering artistic excellence and cultural dialogue within the community.
