TCM Supported Solo Exhibition: “IMMENSE” by Timothy Mpofu
TCM proudly presented IMMENSE, a compelling solo exhibition by local artist Timothy Mpofu, exploring the profound connection between spirituality, personal identity, and cultural heritage. The exhibition offered an intimate journey into Mpofu’s Christian faith and its interplay with his everyday life and cultural experiences.
In IMMENSE, Mpofu utilised found materials, primarily wooden panels, as canvases for his expressive and abstract figurative works. Through bold strokes, layered textures, and intricate patterns, he created a visual dialogue that merged faith and culture in a harmonious and thought-provoking manner. The use of reclaimed wood symbolised both resilience and transformation, reflecting Mpofu’s belief in spiritual renewal and personal growth.
The abstract figurines depicted in his work conveyed a sense of movement and connection, embodying the dynamic relationship between his spiritual journey and his lived reality. Each piece invited viewers to reflect on themes of devotion, introspection, and cultural identity.
